Art for Impact: An Expression for Conservation

Art for Impact: An Expression for Conservation

There is always more than one way to help bring across conservation messaging. “Nearly 5,000 primary school students took part in the Australian Conservation Foundation’s Wild at Art competition, which invites children to create an artwork depicting one of the country’s threatened native animals or plants.” This contest allowed them to put their creativity to the test as they raised awareness about their local flora and fauna! See some of the winning creations below:

People’s choice winner – Captured Sea by Ashley, 11
First place, age category 8 to 10 – Thorny devils under the sun by Joshua, 10
Second place, most unusual artwork – Underneath the pier by Renee, 12
First place, group work – The Reflection of a Koala by Tamm Art Studio
Second place, regional artist – The Amazing Blue Whale – Willow, 8
First place, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artist – Brolgas by Judy, 12

This is a perfect representation of not only how education can take many forms but how anyone can participate in helping save our earth and our environment. Anyone can make an impact and anyone can make a difference!
