Ways to Give

May is Black and White Ruffed Lemur Month!

During May, we are highlighting our Black and White Ruffed Lemurs.

They say April showers bring May flowers but it’s the pollinators that allow them to reproduce!  As the world’s largest pollinators, that’s one of the many things that make Black and White Ruffed Lemurs such as important part of their ecosystem.

In addition to being the world’s largest pollinator, they are also the second loudest primate in the world.  When your at the zoo you might hear them making very dramatic sound sometimes roaring and other times sounding more like bird clucks.

In the wild, these amazing primates can only be found on the island of Madagascar where they are critically endangered and face extinction primarily from hunting and habitat loss.

Your contribution to our Animal Care Fund is crucial. It will directly help cover the expenses for providing enrichment, food, and veterinary care for the animals who call the Ross Park Zoo home, like our Black and White Ruffed Lemurs Menabe and Rizzo.
