Earth Day Every Day: Honoring Our Planet’s Legacy

Earth Day Every Day: Honoring Our Planet’s Legacy

TODAY IS EARTH DAY

Once a year we have a day dedicated to our beloved planet. A day that amplifies the message for the need to protect and preserve our planet. Here at the zoo, every day is Earth day! We are surrounded by marvelous species that need our help and are tasked with educating our community. Countless species are endangered and furthermore extinct due to human impact on their native habitat whether that be taking them from it or destroying it to the extent that they can no longer live there. People need to take a stand to save the world they love.

Here is how you can support Earth day everyday!

Recycle

Grow a garden

Plant a tree

Diminish use of Fossils Fuels

TALK ABOUT IT

“If children grow up not knowing about nature and appreciating it, they will not understand it, and if they don’t understand it, they won’t protect it” – Sir David Attenborough

You can even support amazing organizations committed to furthering planet preservation!

Your local zoo

4Ocean: An organization committed to cleaning oceans by creating items with recycled materials and your purchase goes right back to their mission. Each bracelet pulls 5 pounds of trash from the oceans, rivers, and coastlines!

World Wildlife Fund (WWF): Whose mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth through collaborating with local communities to conserve the natural resources we all depend on and build a future in which people and nature thrive.

Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS): Their goal is to save wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature.

Even though everyday should be Earth Day, we have a special celebration today in honor of the beautiful planet that we and so many extraordinary organisms live on.

Keep on exploring, keep on conserving
