Preserving Our Planet: Honoring World Nature Conservation Day

Preserving Our Planet: Honoring World Nature Conservation Day

On July 28th we celebrated World Nature Conservation Day!

Like many other environmentally themed days throughout the year this is just as essential! It is in place to drive home the importance of caring for our environment and ecosystems that we are a part of. It is a way to kick start the conversation and inform those who may be unaware.

Awareness plays a huge role in the success of any initiative. If people have not heard of a program or have no idea what they can do in order to make a difference that greatly inhibits its effectiveness. So buy spreading the word and being that voice propels efforts forward to truly make a change. Even the smallest steps can spark an interest. Whether its doing something simple like recycling or starting a conservation blog 😉 you never know what might come of it until you try! Fortunately we are an organization that is centered around this very thing so we are able to participate in all of the small as well as large initiatives as well to reach and educate our community.

Our conservation efforts here at the zoo:

  • Composting
  • Recycling
  • Education Programming
  • Eco-Trips
  • Limited Plastic Use
  • Clean Sweep Club

There are many of these that you can participate in from recycling to composting to even teaching others about environmental efforts as well as cleaning up your local neighborhood!

So let’s treat every day like it is World Nature Conservation Day!
